Good afternoon WOLC family,

It feels good to be back with you again and it felt wonderful to worship Christ with you on Sunday.   I was blessed to hear the Word of God (Psalm 73) through Dain’s lips.

I was encouraged to look to God and not compare myself to other less important and temporary fulfillments in life. I was also convicted of my tendency to live for temporary items and goals instead of dwelling on the goodness and nearness of God in my life (v28).

I also thought about how the Psalm depicted what the blessings of God look like in our life–certainly not necessarily ‘health, wealth and prosperity!’ Apparently, even those who have rejected God in their life can experience that.

But when you look at Psalm 73, you see that Asaph was not experiencing the wealth, health and physical prosperity of the wicked despite his godliness.

But he was experiencing the presence of God, a future with God, and current leadership from God (vv23-28). What more can we want?

Apparently sometimes, LESS, as he did.

That was Asaph’s problem (and ours). When looking at the wicked’s ‘success,’ he envied luxurious lives that would perish instead of being content with a pure life before God that would continue.

So at the end of Psalm 73, I came away with a lot of truth that penetrated my heart, but if I can summarize it all, I would say this:

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – “16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Love in Christ,

Aaron
