ABOUT US

Core Values

. . . because God welcomed us in Christ while we were still far off from Him (Rom 15:7; 16:3-16; 1 Cor 16:19-20; Gal 5:22-23; Eph 2:13; Heb 13:2; Jam 2:1-8).

. . . because God’s Word is our ultimate authority and the very Breath of God (2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17; 4:1-2).

. . . because the entire Bible is about Christ and so is our life. He is the true Hero, Savior, and King of the Bible who is meant to indwell us and lives through us (Luke 24:27; Gal 2:20; Phil 3:8-9; Col 1:25-27; 1 John 4:9).

. . . because children are extra special to Jesus and families reflect the image of God (Deut 6:4-9; Matt 19:14; Eph 5:22-6:4).

. . . because God has sent us on a mission to show the gospel in word and deed through the continued work of the Holy Spirit through the Body of Christ, His Church (Matt 5:13-16; 28:19-20; Luke 10:2; John 14:12; Acts 1:8; Eph 3:20-21; 2 Thess 2:16-17).

What We Believe

Word of Life Chapel’s Statement of Faith and Doctrine:

We believe that the Old and New Testaments are the Holy Scriptures and are the verbally inspired Word of God in its entirety, in that God moved in the hearts of men to write the words He desired to communicate as the authors were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the Bible is God’s revelation to man, without error in its original writing, and the final and supreme authority in faith, life, and for all that we believe. We believe the Bible to be the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tested.

Exod 20:1; Ps 119:89; Matt 5:17-19; Luke 24:44-46; 2 Tim 3:15-17; 2 Pet 1:19-21; 3:15-16; Rev 22:18-19.

We believe in one, eternal God, revealed in three persons as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, and co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections.

Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; John 1:1; 14:16; 20:28; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Cor 8:6; Rev 4:11.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate; was conceived of the Holy Spirit; was born of the virgin Mary; is true God and true man; atoned for sin by His substitutional death; was buried and resurrected; and ascended bodily to the right hand of God as believers’ Savior, Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate.

John 1:1, 14; 3:16; Luke 1:34-35; 24:1-7; 2 Cor 5:21; Acts 1:8-9; Col 1:15; 2:9; Heb 1:1-3; 7:24-25; 1 John 2:1-2.

We believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God and sinned in Adam. Sin is the breaking of God’s moral decrees or laws and the failure to live up to God’s standards found in Matthew 22:37-40. Our sin thereby incurred spiritual and physical death, which is separation from God, and all human beings are sinners by nature, act, and failure, and are guilty before God upon reaching moral responsibility.

Gen 1:27; 1 John 3:4; Rom 3:23; 5:12-14.

We believe that salvation is the Gift of God brought to sinful man by grace, to be received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who shed His precious blood on Calvary, and those believing in Him are born from above, receiving remission of sins, justification before God, and eternal life with confident assurance of eternal glory.

Eph 2:8-9; John 3:3-18; Acts 10:43; Rom 8:28-39; 10:9-10, 13; 1 Pet 1:18-19.

We believe that the evidence of a true believer is a life of devotion and yieldedness to the Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells the believer; that a true believer should refuse the desires of the world defined as the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life, and all binding relationships with unbelievers in marriage, business, or society, as well as all religious apostasy; and that a true believer’s desire should be to glorify God in word, thought, and deed.

Rom 8:11; 12:1-2; Gal 2:20; 2 Cor 6:14; 1 Pet 2:9-12; 1 John 2:15-17.

We believe in the one true Church, the Body of Christ, consisting of all true believers in Jesus Christ; who at conversion are placed into the Body of Christ by the baptism of the Holy Spirit; and who meet in local assemblies for Christian fellowship and the worship of God. This one true Church is a spiritual organism whose members are endowed with spiritual gifts for the perfecting and edifying of the saints and for outreach in Christian service.

1 Cor 12:12-13; Eph 4:11-16.

We believe that it is the believer’s privilege and duty to witness by life and word to the truths of the Holy Scripture, to proclaim the gospel of Christ to all men, and to assist other believers in every way to reach the lost throughout the world.

Rom 1:14, 16; Matt 28:19-20; 2 Cor 5:18-21.

We believe Jesus Christ instituted the Lord’s Supper for believers to commemorate His suffering and death until He comes, and that only saved persons who are in fellowship with Christ should partake of the elements of the Lord’s Supper.

Matt 26:26-29; 1 Cor 11:23-29.

We believe that every true believer is baptized into the Body of Christ by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and that such persons should give an outward testimony of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by water baptism.

1 Cor 12:12-13; Matt 28:19; Acts 2:38.

We believe that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead bodily, according to the Scriptures, and became the first-fruits of those who’ve slept; that the dead in Christ will be resurrected bodily at the Rapture of the Church to share in His eternal power and glory; and that after Christ’s 1000-year reign, unbelievers will be resurrected bodily to stand before God in judgment and cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer everlasting punishment.

Luke 24:1-8; 1 Cor 15; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Rev 20:11-15.

We believe in the “catching away” (i.e., the Rapture) of the Church by the personal imminent return of Jesus Christ; in a seven-year tribulation period; and in the personal, visible, and glorious return to the earth with His saints to judge the world in righteousness and reign on the earth for 1000 years from David’s throne over regathered, converted, restored Israel and the Gentile world in unparalleled glory, righteousness, and power.

Acts 1:11; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Rev 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:4-6.

We believe that Satan is a created being; is a fallen angel who in pride rebelled against God; is the author of sin; is the ruler of other fallen angels and this world system; is the constant adversary of Jesus Christ and His Church, who will yet inspire the Anti-Christ to rise in blasphemous power against God; and will finally be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.

Isa 14:12-15; Ezek 28:11-19; 2 Cor 3:3-4; Rev 12:7; 16:13; 20:10.

We believe that all civil government is of divine appointment for the well-being of human society, that we should pray for those in authority over us and give to them God-honoring obedience and submission, and that this obedience and submission should be consistent with scriptural exhortation to do good unto all men and in no way render evil for evil to any man, but to ever follow that which is good.

Rom 13:1-7; 1 Tim 2:1-4; 1 Pet 2:13-17.
