Meet Our Staff

Pastor Mark and Deb Habecker

Senior Pastor

As a child growing up at Word of Life Chapel under the ministries of both Pastors Abram Gish and Don Wagner and serving here as a college student and young adult, I am thankful for the many faithful men and women who helped me grow as a young Christian. Now, after pastoring in North Carolina and in southeastern Virginia for 19 years, it is truly a delight to be back at Word of Life Chapel and serving together with the body of Christ here. The desire to know God and His Word, the warmth and joy of fellowship in the body of Christ, and the passion to serve Him locally and globally are the catalysts for the many ministries of Word of Life Chapel. I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve together in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Deb works as a Life Coach at the Water Street Rescue Mission ministries in downtown Lancaster. We have two sons, Chad and Eric. Since arriving back in the summer of 2014, we have enjoyed hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing here in PA and the northeast. Maybe we’ll see you on the lake, in the woods or on the slopes!

PASTOR DAVE AND DEB DILWORTH

Visitation Pastor

I know that Someone beyond me is writing the script when I realize that 50 years ago our youth group at Bethel Chapel was teamed up with Word of Life Chapel at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference and I remember Pastor Abe Gish doing a devotional after breakfast.  Between then and now having the privilege to work with Pastor Mark and serve the dear saints at the chapel, God allowed me to serve 3 churches for over 20 years.  With a flexible schedule as a Realtor, I currently enjoy my role as a work place chaplain with MarketPlace Ministries as well as being a board member with Fellowship International Mission.
My wife Deb has been my better half since 1978 and we love traveling to Maine to see our 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren.  She has the great opportunity to regularly invest in student’s lives at the Lancaster County Career and Technical Center, where she trains future nursing assistants.  When we are not involved in ministry, you will find us in a tent, on skis, in kayaks, biking the rail trails, or at the beach.

Elder and Vice Chairman Keith Heigel and his wife Marcia

I have attended WOLC since childhood with many great memories of being part of the youth group, including meeting my wife. Marcia and I have served together in youth ministry for over 30 years. I love seeing lives growing and serving the Kingdom that lasts forever. We have two adult married children, Josiah and Alicia, one grandkitten and one granddog. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and watching Philadelphia sports to practice humility.

Elder and Board Secretary Ernie Miller and his wife Janice

We have been attending WOLC since November 1994. In addition to serving as Elder and Board Secretary, Ernie enjoys singing with a worship team and the choir. Janice is the church Treasurer. It is a joy to serve the Lord with the folks of WOLC. To God be the glory!
Ernie’s hobbies include hunting, four wheeling and many other outdoor activities, while Janice enjoys accounting, reading, crocheting and other hobbies. Together we love our children, grandchildren and cherish the times spent at our cabin in northern Centre County.

Deacon Wayne Miller and his wife Sue

I have been attending Word of Life Chapel since 1967 when I started dating Sue, my future wife. We were married in 1970 by Pastor Gish and Sue and I became members soon after that. We enjoy serving in many ways: singing in the choir, being an usher and doing maintenance around the church facilities while Sue also sings in the choir, helps out in the library and serves in the church nursery. We have three children and six grandchildren and we enjoy spending time with them. I also like to hunt, do carpentry work and help out others in need. WOLC has been a blessing to me and my family over the years.

Deacon Ken Gruber and his wife Tina

I have attended Word of Life Chapel since my youth and have benefited from knowing those who have been members here and walking with the Lord for a very long time. Having recently been married to Tina, I also have gained a new perspective on providing leadership to the church. My daytime activities are full of dairy farming chores and the joys of outdoor living.

Deacon Mike Bixler and his wife Marla

I have attended Word of Life Chapel since 1991 and have served in the Youth Ministry since 1992.  I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 sons.   I also enjoy volleyball, hunting and garden tractor pulling.  I am humbled and honored to serve on the church board and ask for your prayers and support.  One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 4:32 and feel the Lord challenges me everyday to live up to what this verse says.

Deacon Robert Book his wife Amanda and Family

I have attended Word of Life Chapel all of my life.  My wife, Amanda, and I were married here and just celebrated 10 years of marriage.  We have 3 daughters who love singing, making crafts and playing outside.  Together we enjoy spending time with our families and being outdoors.  I enjoy helping with the Awana program!  I actively serve on the sound board too.  I’m excited and honored to serve on the church board and looking ahead to see what the Lord has in store for Word of Life Chapel!
